Thredbo

Located approximately 500 kilometres south of Sydney, Thredbo is a snow resort in the Snowy Mountains
Thredbo
which boasts some of the longest and best runs in Australia.

While the snow season (lasting between July and early September) is relatively short, with good snow and a shining sun, the resort makes for excellent skiing or snowboarding and plenty of fun.

Things to See and Do

Besides the snow, Thredbo is a great place to visit during the summer months with its excellent scenic tracks for bushwalking and mountain-biking during the summer months.

The available activities include hiking, mountain-biking, canoeing, white-water rafting, abseiling and horse riding. These can be organised at the Thredbo Leisure Centre or Raw NRG in the Valley Terminal.

Several festivals and events are also held at Thredbo during the summer including the Blues Festival in January, the Thredbo World Music Festival in March and the Jazz Festival in April/May.

Thredbo Hotels and Accommodation

Streets which wind around the valley side of Thredbo Village are filled with dozens of lodges. Some of the more popular Thredbo accommodation places include the cosy Kasee's which has a sauna an open fireplace, the Candlelight Lodge bed and breakfast and the Thredbo YHA Lodge.

Thredbo accommodation, particularly at the more popular spots, can be hard to come by during winter. Some places even have ballots to determine invited guests.
