Australian colonial architecture is on display at Salamanca Place in Hobart where beautiful sandstone warehouses line the harbour front. Once the centre of Hobart's trade and commerce, the warehouses today serve as restaurants, cafes and shops selling produce and antiques. Nearby, east of Salamanca Square, is the nonprofit Salamanca Arts Centre where a range of art-related galleries, studios, retail outlets and venues are housed. Take a walk up Kelly's Steps, located between two warehouses halfway along the block, to get to Battery Point.
