Ross
Located about 120km north of Hobart is the charming ex-garrison colonial town of Ross. Ross's rich history dates back to 1812 when the town was established as an important coach staging post as well as a place where travellers could feel protected while journeying along the main north-south road. There's plenty of historic buildings here including the 1832 Scotch Thistle Inn, the Barracks, the 1885 Uniting Church, St John's Anglican Church and the old post office. Visitors should also sample some of the offerings from the local bakeries along Church St such as the Ross Bakery Inn. See our detailed Ross map.
