Main Beach in North Stradbroke Island stretches for over 32kms from Jumpinpin at the southern end of the island to Point Lookout in the north where swimmers can be found in abundance at the patrolled areas. Along with Cylinder Beach, Main Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the area. In the right conditions, the big swells that develop attract surfers while the nearby headland provides spectacular views of the area where dolphins and whales can sometimes be spotted. Main Beach can be accessed either from George Nothling Drive at Point Lookout or via Tazi Road which cuts right across the island's centre from Dunwich. Camping is available in the areas past 7.5km south of the causeway. These areas require 4WDs which can be driven along the beach after a permit has been granted from Stradbroke Island Tourism located on Junner Street in Dunwich.
