Launceston

Launceston

Founded in 1805, Launceston is the second-oldest city in Tasmania and third-oldest in Australia overall.

Located among steep hills, 64km inland from Bass Strait at the end of the deepwater channel of the Tamar River, the city serves as northern Tasmania's commercial centre.

The city runs at a relaxed pace compared to the more cosmopolitan Hobart with attractions here including various natural and historical sites as well the nearby wine regions.
