Jervis Bay
Jervis Bay is a large sheltered bay with pristine white beaches and crystal-clear water. Dolphins can
be spotted in the area regularly while whales are also known to visit during their annual migration between the months of June and October. Most of Jervis Bay's development is on its southwestern shore around the towns of Huskisson and Vincentia. Its northern section is much less developed with forests backing onto the beaches at Callala Bay. Things to See and Do
Diving is a popular activity at Jervis Bay with operators around the area providing boat dives, equipment hire as well as diving courses. A few wrecks in the bay make for good diving. Nature lovers are particularly drawn to Jervis Bay which has attained National Park status. Apart from watching the dolphins and whales, visitors can venture to the Booderee National Park or Botanic Gardens for some bushwalking or just to have a picnic or barbecue. The charming fishing port of Huskisson is also worth a visit with places of interest in the area including the Lady Denman Heritage Complex maritime museum, Timbey's Aboriginal Arts & Crafts shop and spectacular Hyams Beach. Visitors can go on dolphin and whale watching boat trips which are organised by Dolphin Watch Cruises. Other options include fishing and sightseeing trips. Boat charters are also available where visitors can hire cruise boats or catamarans for sailing down the clear waters of Jervis Bay while enjoying the serene surrounds and myriad wildlife.
