The historical Fitzroy Gardens was established over 150 years ago and is named after Sir Charles Augustus Fitzroy who was Governor of New South Wales and Governor-General of the Australian Colonies during the 19th century. The gardens feature Victorian era landscapes and are decorated by quaint ornaments such as the lake, conservatory, Cook's Cottage, fountains, sculptures, Sinclair’s Cottage, Model Tudor village, the Rotunda and the fairy tree. The gardens are conveniently located close to Melbourne's city centre. Just across the road are the Treasury Gardens.
