Dunwich in North Stradbroke Island

Dunwich

Dunwich is the ferry port of North Stradbroke Island where water taxis, ferries and catamarans from the terminal in Toondah Harbour arrive with visitors from the mainland.

Local bus services provide return transportation for guests from Dunwich and One Mile Jetty to Point Lookout with the last bus leaving at approximately 6pm. Alternatively, more expensive cab services are also available for heading up the island.

Operators in the area offer 4WD safari tours such as Sunrover Expeditions and Straddie Kingfisher Tours. Prior to driving around the beach on a 4WD, visitors should obtain a permit from Stradbroke Island Tourism located on Junner Street, approximately 200m from the ferry terminal (see map and contact information below).

Visitors to North Stradbroke Island generally don't spend too much time at Dunwich apart from getting transportation organised or visiting the gas stations or banks although the small North Stradbroke Island Historical Museum with its collection of photographs, documents, books may be of some interest.
